In Defense of MGs

This is way off topic, but in the name of ethics I have to step forward in
defense of MGs. Before I discovered Alfas, my hobby car of choice was a '71
MG Midget. It was a fun car to drive and very reliable. It was even a
daily driver from January through spring one year. It has a fantastic
heater, but terrible in ice and snow. Parts are a lot cheaper than Alfa
parts and I found the car much more forgiving to work on than my GTV. I
consider myself an Alfa enthusiast now and not an MG enthusiast because I
think the Alfas are much better, nicer looking, and more entertaining than
MGs. However to say the cars are terrible unreliable pieces of junk is a
bit like throwing stones in our glass Alfa house. I think I've heard a
story or two of Alfas that were a bit below par on the reliability front. A
car not maintained properly will not be reliable whether it is Italian or
British or German or American or even Japanese; especially cars with a few
decades under the belt. I think old Volvos can survive without maintenance,
but they're the only ones.

Cheers,
Lawrence
one German car (runs great)
one Italian car (runs great)
one British car (doesn't run, my fault)
