Thanks to everyone who provided assistance on this.

I got it all figured out now. Managed to remove the centre console and
pulled the entire dash away from the firewall enough to play with the
heater.

The temp control definitely wasn't controlling the heater valve properly and
I sorted that out.

Got it all back together again. Whole job done in under 3 hours.

Of course, now the ventilation fan is only working on slow speed....

Back we go again!
