Hi Steve,
If the air pump works like it does on my spider, then it's powered by the 
crank pulley, so not having the spica shouldn't be a problem in terms of 
running the pump. However, technically the spica is part of the emissions 
system, so keep your fingers crossed that those emissions guys don't figure 
that out.....
