Alfetta Wheelwell

I'm trying to restore a '78 Alfetta SV that has been modified in several ways by previous owners for autocrossing.  The inner fender has rusted,  dangerously close to the strut mounting.  It apears that this was caused by a horizontal panel running along the top of the wheelwel.  Also some rust is in the front of the passenger-side rocker,  where a vertical panel extends from the top to the bottom.  These are both rectangular pieces,  that I would guess trapped water and promoted rusting.  I'm not familiar enough with the Alfettas to know if this was done by the factory or an owner.  Can someone who knows how the wheelwell should look,  or owns an Alfetta,  and could check it out for me,  that would be great.
