Hi Biba:

The primary side is always the low voltage (i.e. 12 V or 6 V) circuit, 
while the secondary is the high voltage side (i.e. that which connects to 
the distributor rotor and eventually the spark plugs).  One side of the 
points is always grounded (through being screwed to the distributor body), 
so the wire from the other side those points goes to the coil primary 
circuit - - Negative terminal on negative ground cars, positive on positive 
ground cars.  The remaining terminal (be it  + or -) on the primary circuit 
of the coil goes to 12V and is switched on/off by the ignition key.

BTW, Biba, did you ever find me that Shankle Heel and Toe kit for my Spider?
