Re: Berlina questions

I can't say for sure about the tank capacity, which in the case of the 2000
Berlina I took from Fusi. However, my copy of the main 2000 Berlina parts
book (which does incorporate the 'aggiornamento' pages) shows just one
tank, 105.12.32.010.00, which is clearly taller than the tanks in the 1750s,
and the 6/74 Catalogo Rapido, which is usually good about listing 'up to'
and 'from' variants, as it does for 1750 Spider tanks, shows just the same
105.12.32.010.00 for the 2000 Berlina - but it too covers 'world' cars but
not the USA variants. The 2000 Berlina USA Version supplement does list two
tanks, 115.00.32.010.00 up to chassis number 3001910 and 115.00.32.010.02
from chassis number 3002001, without listing the capacity of either.
According to d'Amico & Tabucchi that break point lies in build-year, not
model year, 1974. US tanks differed from world tanks in provision for the
recirculating fuel return, and 1974 tanks might possibly have differed for
some other emissions-system variations as the emissions regimen became more
stringent, but I don't see clear logic in the earlier US tanks staying small
as world tanks were enlarged, but then there is not always clear logic in
everything that comes out of Italy.
Perhaps one of the multi-Berlina owners, Andrew Watry, Kevin Trent, any
others, would know more and/or better. Ian, in South Africa, should not be
affected by variants among the Spica Berlinas.
Cheers
John H.
