It may be possible to get an aftermarket ECU to keep the engine running, but
what about the speed-sensitive volume control on the stereo or the climate
control systems or the active stability control computers?  Its a dark
desperate time coming up...Actually, I'm sure there will be people supplying
the computers for these as well.  Who would have thought in 1967 that you
could buy new sheet metal for your car in 2002?  Where there's a buck to be
made, someone will be there to earn it and the new highly electronic cars
will be no different.
