Re: AROC Dues Increase

I think what has folks up in arms is that we (AROC) have a national convention
which contains an open board meeting. Things that so directly impact the
entire membership should be openly discussed at such a forum, not slipped to
us unawares. While most members can't make a national, there are however a
large percentage of clubs represented at the national convention. Elsewhere in
this issue of the digest was mention of the breakaway ARA. As we once formed a
whole country over such issues I wouldn't think it far fetched to see
something as loosely confederated as AROC splinter over dues increases not
approved by local chapters. I for one feel more strongly affiliated with the
NWARC than the AROC. It's the NWARC that provides all my Alfa events, friends,
tech support, etc. Both the NWARC and AROC provide monthly newsletters or
magazines but the coverage of current Alfa products and new is better in the
NWARC newsletter. The only help I can see from the national is the national
club's insurance covers track events if the NWARC adds an event rider. Not
knowing the arcane world of insurance this may be a major help as the NWARC
finances itself off track events, however, other smaller clubs in the Puget
Sound region run track events so I'm still left to wonder.
