Thanks for the tip. I have had the car on a lift since my post, and it looks
like the center drive shaft support bushing/ bearing is gone. I had begun to
notice a driveline vibration, so I may have a couple of driveline problems
at the same time. I am going to Sacramento tomorrow to the nearest Alfa
mechanic that knows what he's doing and I'll post the results.
