Re: Changing a Milano heater mix valve



Alan,

Unfortunately I can tell you all about this valve, I changed it
about a month ago on my Twin Spark.

It is on the Right Hand side of the Heater Box, which occupies
most of the space up under the centre of the dash.  You can see
the valve from in the footwell, and it has the actuation cable
leading to it.

In a RHD car the first step is to remove the Dashboard.
Unfortunately this involves the removal of the centre console,
radio console, vents, and many connectors.  However, I was
impressed by the connectors, once they were all disconnected, the
dash came out and away.  There are two spring clips at each end
of the front of the dash.

My car has AirCon, and I chose not to disconnect the pipes, and
therefore changed the valve in the car.  This may have been a
mistake, as once the AC is off, I suspect that the last two nuts
would have meant that the whole air box module  could then have
been removed.  In a RHD car the access to the two small bolts is
POOR, and resulted in blood, sweat and tears.

The valve has a thermostatic copper pipe that has to be fed
through the front of the heater core.  Copy the existing setup
and routing.

Installation is the reverse.  This took me about 20 hours.
I have all the factory manual, and had looked for other
information on the web before I started.  I don't think it
helped.  But then again, I did know where the screws for the dash
were.  

Obviously I can supply detail if anyone would like it.

I made a post early about not being able to close the heat all
the way.  Thank you for all the replies.

It seems that I'm not the only one with this problem and it seems
the simple solution is to put a manual heater valve in the engine
compartment.  I was wondering if anyone has changed the actual
mixer valve itself?  and if any knows where the vlave is located?
