convertible top window
The window in my 91 Spider came un-sewed when I was cleaning it to go the
AROC convention in Nashville. I took it to an upholstery shop in Memphis
(Don's) to get some thread so I could sew it by hand. They told me they
could take it off the car and re-sew it for $125 -$140 if the top was in
good enough shape to remove and reinstall. We went out to look at it and
when we got 20 feet from the car he could see the top was in to bad a shape
to do it. I agreed and he said he would give me the thread but I would be
better of gluing it.
I tried to sew it by hand but got nowhere fast so, I glued it with GE
Silicone II clear Household Glue. I did this the first part of June, and the
window is still tight and leak free. I've put it up and down at least 50+
time since I've glued it so I'm sure it will last until next spring and I'll
have the top replaced. They said they would install my top for $125, I plan
on letting them install it. guess where I won't be buying the top.
