Re: 164 hood stuck

God I love this digest. Several people responded with helpful ideas
about how to get the hood open. Bruce's Parts Bin had the best
suggestion:

"Remove the right wheel and the front wheel well liner... You should
see the latch arm and can push on it with a long extention..."

This was the key. Once the tire and well liner were removed I simply
reached the pin with my gloved hand and opened it. Then, once it was
opened, I straightened out the slot as suggested by Tom. Problem
solved.

It's interesting to note that this problem was not caused by bad motor
mounts. It was caused by replacing the motor mounts. When I jacked
up the engine to get clearance to replace the right rear mount I must
have bent to slot even though I had removed the radiator bolts in the
area so that nothing would bend. One other side effect of jacking the
engine so high was increased exhaust noise. I think I have fixed this
by replacing the front manifold to flex pipe gasket but will need a
test drive to confirm.
