Oil Pressure Sensors
Thanks to all who responded to my questions on the oil pressure sensor
set up on the Series 4 Spider. For those interested, there are in fact
two different oil pressure sensors on the car. The first controls the
low oil pressure idiot light on the dash and is located on the lower
potion of the drivers side block right next to where the dipstick
exits. This sensor is a screw in type with a single plug (looks like a
temperature sensor) which connects to the wire running to the warning
lamp. It screws into a metal fitting which parralels the block and
which attaches to the block via another small metal pipe at a right
angle via a 19mm bolt. The second sensor which actually measures the
oil pressure, is located on the back of the block on the passengers
side and is extremely difficult to get to. This looks like a small
"oil can" and screws into the block at a right angle. Interestingly,
neither sensor is shown anywhere in the shop manual. So if your oil
pressure warning light is acting up, or your oil pressure guage is
reading low, check out those sensors.
