Diagnose on Alfa155 2.0TS '92

Does anyone of you know how the diagnose system on a
'92 Alfa 155 2.0TS works. I've heard it works with a
flashing check lamp and codes. What are the codes, how
to enter the diagnostic mode and which check lamp.
 
A couple of days ago a red check lamp lit up without
any pictogram on it. It was a red lamp in the middle
row, one above the bottom. Does anyone know where this
lamp is for? After restarting the lamp was off.
