FWD vs AWD

Hi there,

Sorry, was tied up for a bit. Driving technique and how the manufacturer sets
up the susp. of their car, determines the fun you can have with it.

Audis are either FWD or AWD. Quattro is a $1750 option on any car. Audi gives
us X number of QTR 1.8t A4s, X number of FWD 1.8t A4s, etc. every month. We
can then choose all other options.

The fwd VW/Audis can be rotated with drop throttle oversteer ( not the Passat
so much - too soft ) An extreme example is when a first time GTi owner racks
up a car in the rain going downhill around a corner when they touch the
brakes. The front susp. of all Audis (except the TT) have 5 links and four
ball joints per side that elimate torque steer and camber change. The
traction control ( ASR ) on fwd cars, cuts back engine power when more than
250 rpm difference between the front wheels is detected. This keeps oversteer
at bay - you can switch it off.

ESP ( electronic stability program ) detects if you are out of control in a
turn and selectively brakes wheels to bring the car back to the original
line. You can turn it off, but it comes back on if you touch the brakes in a
corner. This is an option thank God ! It kills four wheel drifts:-( The TT
can become unstable in turns at speeds above 120mph. It is getting ESP ,
different control arms and a winglet. The car under steers more with these
changes.

i couldn't agree w/ewe more, BUT... quattro is an upgrade *only* if offered!
:>) and, at least in the dc metro area, the preponderance of audi's *i* see
*are* quattros - a *wery* worthwhile $1500 option to that make, imho... i'd
be
curious to see the breakout of fwd vs rwd sales for the audi's - anyone?
