A/C preventing install of new footwell speaker - help

I went to install new speakers today in my 1990 Spider Graduate and can't
remove the passenger speaker located in the footwell.  It appears that the
A/C unit is tucked in under the glove box and only about 1"-2" from the
speaker grill.  Any ideas as to how I can move the A/C unit so that I can
install the new speaker?  TIA.
