Re: Bottom End rattle?

I had once had a 1983 Alfetta GCL (before I got an Alfa with the gearbox in
the right place...). It had a rattle at, and slightly off, idle, which
turned out to be the driveshaft lightly hitting the top of the rear "engine"
mount/bellhousing (the equivalent of the gearbox mount in the 105 series
cars). If it is you will see a line of paint worn off the driveshaft when it
contacts. A new rubber mount helped, but I also wonder if the front "pilot"
bearing was worn allowing the driveshaft to move around too much at the
front donut?
