164 12V gearbox info req'd

Now that I need a new gearbox for my 164, does anybody have any
information which may help?
e.g. would a twinspark, or 24V gearbox fit, or even SAAB 9000, Lancia
thema or FIAT Croma?
Any other vehicles?
If I need a used one you can bet that the exact same gearbox for a FIAT
will be half the price of one for an Alfa Romeo.
