GTV Twin Spark update

At long last, an update on my '74 GTV Twin Spark swap. I noted the
comments made by Giovanni listed below and have found them to be dead right.

"OK, to those wondering about dropping a Tspark into an older Alfa, here's
what I
learned from the July 98 issue of Auto Italia:
To do conversion (this on a 1975 US spec spider) Donor car was Alfa 75.

Crankshaft must be drilled to accept spider gearbox
Oil pump from old 2-litre needed as feed is different
Water pump from old car
Sump from old car
flywheel from old car
clutch from old car

Fuel injection and ignition from Alfa 75 donor car

Exhaust manifold and air filter had to be custom fabricated

Original Radiator was a very tight fit but do-able.

Lastly the hood "just" clears the taller T-spark engine"

As the project stands now the crankshaft has been drilled by a local
specialist and we will be using the original oil pump, sump, water pump
(mechanical tach drive), flywheel and clutch. This really is only due to
the differences between the chassis which needn't be discussed here. The
engine and gearbox are in the car as a trial fit and I must say that it
fits amazingly well. The TS fuel injection fits as if it were designed for
the car. The hood closes without hitting anything! As Giovanni points out
the only place where it looks tight is at the end of the cam driven
distributor and the stock radiator.
As far as the exhaust manifold goes I have talked to the good people at
Alfa Ricambi and they have agreed to supply a header, in pieces, the will
include correctly sized flanges to be assembled and welded on site.
Needless to say there will be no sort of warranty on this.
My mechanic says that a air filter assembly from a late model Jaguar
will fit nicely in the space available and it doesn't say"Jaguar" on it
anywhere. The wiring harness from the injection is a mile long and will be
shortened but appears to be a straight forward Bosch affair.
The only question unanswered at this time are the coils. I didn't get
any with the engine and once again Alfa Ricambi is confidant that they will
be able to find the part number if not get the actual parts.
This swap is drawing a lot of attention from the local Alfa community
and it'll be very exciting to actually get this on the road. We are
currently shooting for mid-March. If anyone will happen to be in the
Cincinnati area on March 9th our local club chapter will have the March
meeting at the shop where the work is being done...stop by and check it out.
