In AD7-1096 "George" lag@domain.elided writes that "Post 1996 Land
Rover's use a "rotoflex coupling" in front of the rear differential. When
they started importing these vehicles into the US in numbers, there was
considerable protest over the amount of slop in the drivetrain and the
"clonking" noise it generated. LR responded by replacing the standard u-joint
with a guibo"
"Guibo" may be British/American English for the Rotoflex/Metalastic
(inch-measure) couplings, but the Italian (metric) units still have the
trade-name and proper name of "Giubo" in Italian, according to my apoplectic
italotechnolingiustic authority, who I believe in all matters Alfa.
Sincerely,
John H.
