Forgive me if this has been answered (as it probably has) - I'm trying to 
catch up on some old ADs.  Like Don H, I also have a GTV/6 with a Verde 
transaxle.  According to a Road & Track write-up on a then-new Verde, every 
500 rpm is worth 12 mph in 5th gear.  As long as I'm in 5th, I always know 
how fast I'm going!
