Brian, 

I agree with you that going to an electric cooling fan is a worthwhile
performance improvement.

However, if your Spider is overheating in traffic, it is not the case that
you must modify it to an electrically operated fan in order to cure that
behavior. You should repair the cooling system so that it operates
normally first. Adding an aftermarket cooling enhancement is then an
optional performance benefit, not a break-even patch for a blocked
radiator.
