I owned and raced the Giulietta Spider Veloce that John Shankle built
and first raced in for 4 years. I had a few minor successes, but I
never got the ponies out of the engine the way John did.

My Spider, and all the others that I knew about, was set up with very
stiff front springs and a 1 inch front sway bar in front, and stock
springs in back that were shortened to get the ride height right.

The reason for this is that the 'A' arm that provides the latteral
location of the rear axel also sets the roll center. This roll center
is much too high which makes the rear roll stiffness much too great.

If you have to run the stock rear suspension hardware, which most people
do, keep the rear springs and shocks as soft as you can.
