Re: ahhhhhh-bad output shaft

Many an owner of a car that's normally parked has experienced similar
dismaying discoveries. Number one rule: don't park the car on the
grass/dirt. The moisture content is much higher. Park only on
pavement...asphalt is best as it absorbs less moisture than cement.

A friend once 'moth-balled' a fairly mint AMC Javelin taking many
precautions against invading vermin, interior damage due to heat,
fuel-to-varnish conversion (he filled the tank and carbs with diesel
fuel) and tire rot (by parking on visqueen wrapped cement tiles).
After several years the car suffered profound underbody rusting,
anything not undercoated corroded severely.

An asphalt surface that allows no pooling of water would be the
optimum outdoor storage platform.
