Did you remember to remove the locking pin from the "snap-on" joint 
before you disassembled?

If you didn't remove the locking pin, chances are that you bent it, and
now it won't hold the "head" on the "ball" . . .
Try to remove the pin and straighten it, then assemble linkage, then
put in the pin. (it wraps around the ball head to keep it in place)
Don't forget to grease the ball-head _a little_ with some BR2 or
wheel-bearing grease.
