FWD from <duetto1@domain.elided>. Anybody who knows what this is?

First Remove clyinder head Now ,the
object is to replace piston and liners not do the bottom end of
the engine so
simply clamp a vise grip on rhe edge of a liner using the old
exhaust gasket,
(copper ones) folded over the liner edge so as not to chip or mar
the inner
surface , rotate engine so that the piston will come up against
the jaw of the
vise grip and raithe liner out of the block. Do this to all the
liners so that
you have only piston on their rods looking at you . two pistons
will be up and
two will be down. put some rags in the liner holes in the block
so as not to
lose any thing in the lower portion of the engine, Remove one of
the circlips
in the piston side that locates the piston pin and push pin out of
the rod
end, remove piston. Do this to all pistons. You may freely rotate
engine while
doing this as you will retime when you replace head. Now the neat
part. if
you are replacing with new p&l set or are reconditioning the
original it does
not matter. First place a piston in the bottom of a liner pressing
the rings
as they slide into the liner makingsure the end gap do not line
up. push
piston only far enough in to liner so that the pin hole is still
open. Put a
circlip in the piston groove on one side of the piston. Start with
#4 piston
assy and the rod end at top of stroke .Lower piston assy over rod
and push
home the pin. Insert circlip on the piston and push liner down
into the block.
Do not forget the liner O ring on the bottom of liner.Obviously
well oiled
pieces make it easier.Next, put a piece or copper tubing iver a
head stud with
a large washer on the bottom so as the liner is held down when you
rotate
engine to bring #3 rod up so you can install the next assy. There
is always a
tricky part and here it comes. the #2 piston is next installed
with out the
liner. Now rotate engine to bring #1 rod up and preceed th install
as before.
Now the problem is to install @2 liner. A large hose clamp is
needed and a
flexible handle nut driver welded th the screw of the hose
clamp.Put the hose
clamp around the rings of the #2 piston lower liner carefully over
the piston
and pressing carefully so as the push the hose clamp down while
the rings go
into the bottom of the liner. If you lookat the liner bottom you
will notice
that the inner edge is chamfered so it will easily accept the
rings.Loosen the
hose clamp completely an withdraw from below the liner. push liner
into block
and you done. Average time with head removal 6HRs!!! no lifting of
engine, no removal of sump. After you have finished the
installation Please do
change the oil and filter as you will have antifreeze and dirt in
the bottom
of the engine when you remove the liners. Ciao from

Is this how you do it over there?
