RE: Help with '83 Spider Handling



I wanted to ad one comment to this thread.  The
steering box in spiders is also prone to getting very
warm due to it's proximity to the exhaust header. 
Especially aftermarket tube headers. (these can also
cause master cylinder overheat problems)  

We cooked the seals out of the box in the race car
several times. A heat shield made from shiny aluminum
did the trick.  On the race car we also installed a
zerk fitting in the top of the box and filled it with
moly grease, but I'd hesitate to suggest this on a
street car.

Be careful with that adjustment.  Too tight and you'll
trash the box completely.
