While all this bickering about misnomers goes on, let's not forget that
the Giulietta Spider "Veloces" were actually "Super Spiders". And it's
my understanding that use of the name "Normale" to describe a level of
trim/performance was advanced by Alfa enthusiasts, not the factory. >>

I think you are partly right and partly wrong. I just dug out an original
owners manual for a Giulietta. The models of spider are the spider and the
spider veloce . You are correct, I believe about the Normale disigination.
However, the Super Spider designation was also used by the enthusiasts, not
the factory. I do not find the words Normale nor Super in the owner's manual
I have, but I did not spend hours searching.
My manual came with a 59 I called an Alfa Romeo Giulietta Super Spider
Veloce, which was not quite correct but sounded impressive (I thought) 25
years ago when I bought it. However, the manual must have been added later as
the publication number appears to be "DIASS - Pubblic. N. 772 - 10/1961
(15.000) what ever that all means.
The models covered are and SAE horsepower listed are:
BERLINA 60, t.i. 74, SPRINT 91, SPIDER 91, SPRINT VELOCE 103, SPIDER VELOCE
103, SPRINT SPECIALE 114, and SPRINT ZAGATO 114. Model desiginations are
typed exactly as I found them, that is all are full capital except the t.i. 4
door.
Just thought you might like to know.
