RE: Milano fuel pumps (or any other Bosch L-Jetronic)

Hang me high from a yard-arm if you all like, but I'll offer
my two bits on this one.

Many Bosch L-Jetronic pumps are essentially identical. My
Volvo 740's pump appears to be virtually identical to the
one in the GTV6. And I have a possible spare now in the form
of a pump from an L-Jetronic Audi which I picked up at a
junk yard for $10 (I was there helping a friend and just
couldn't leave without SOMETHING in my hand.)

The L-Jet systems all require essentially the same pressure
which is regulated externally from the pump. There might be
a difference in delivery requirements based on engine
displacement, so pull a pump from something comparable in
size and with low mileage. Peugeots use the L-Jetronic
system and have a tendency to end up in the yards early. For
less than 1/10th the price of a new pump you can test my
theory...I'll even reimburse you if a good used Bosch pump
(one that can generate the required 30-40 LBS/IN
consistently) won't run an Alfa. How's that for a wager?

for the name...my daughters (6 and 9 years old) did it!
