Catalytic Converter

I dropped by my local Alfa dealer to check on an irritating Rattle at about
2500 RPMs.  Was told the heat shield had broken it's welds and could be
repaired for about $200 - 300.   I remembered someone mentioning a supplier
of cat conv at a low price (Discount Converters I believe).  

Does anyone have any experience with these guys?  Should I just have the old
one fixed?
