GTV6 oil vapor separator

As I was replacing the AFM on my 85 GTV6 I noticed a fair amount of oil
in the rubber boot that connects the AFM to the intake manifold.  The
only way I could see oil getting there is though the hose connecting it
to the oil vapor separator.  Do these things get clogged occasionally? 
Is there a good way to clean it or do I have to replace the unit?
