Milano brakes: the saga continues.

Okay...Rico the Milano is home from the vet's after another three-day
stay, during which two very competent mechanics and one experienced
service manager tried to cure the low-pedal problem on his brakes, all
to absolutely no avail. They pumped gallons of fluid through the
system with the pressure bleeder, finally collecting four Coke bottles
of perfectly clear fluid without so much as one tiny bubble anywhere.
The parking brake (thank you, Fred, but that wasn't it) was fully
slack during the adjustment procedure. It was ascertained that the
little dingus on the end of the pushrod was where it should be, all
calipers were right-side-up, and there are no leaking seals anywhere.

So now what? We still have brakes that begin to catch less than two
inches off the floor on the first hit, and will just barely lock with
the pedal all the way down. Two strokes makes it a bit better, but
still not the way it was.

The only items that seem to remain under suspicion are the front
calipers. The right one emits a loud groan under hard application, and
in fact it's always been "grabby." The mechanic who did most of the
work suggested that one of the pistons might be hanging up, and could
even have a bubble trapped behind it that the bleeding process can't
dislodge. So I guess we get a pair of new fronts, which thank heavens
I can put on with some assistance.

Aside from that, does anyone have any more suggestions?
