164 A/C problem

My A/C has been acting strange lately. At idle, when the compressor is on,
it puts out nice, cold air, and stays on for a good long while. When engine
speeds are above 2000, however, it cuts off after about 10 seconds of
operation and won't cut back on for a minute or so. I've been running it
intermittently to keep the seals alive, so what's wrong? Any help is greatly
appreciated.
