spica injectors

hi,
my 80 spider loads up on start up. it will start, runs, then die after a
few seconds. when re started, if you catch it right its fine. if not, one
or two plugs get so fuel soaked, they have to be removed. other wise, the
car runs great, good mileage, plugs stay clean once running well. i believe
it was discussed that the injectors stick on first start, allowing way to
much fuel in, then they unstick. does this sound like a reasonable theory?
if so, can they be cleaned? i took an old one apart and they seem VERY
simple. i expected it to fly apart do to some kind of spring tention, but
the spring is very small. any body sucessfully clean them? am i wasting my
time?? ps- i disconnected the cold start solenoid to see if it was bettr
that way. i had to crank longer for it to fire, but the result was the same.

thanks,
Mike Hooker
