Re: PermaPlate

<<
Has anyone heard of a paInt protectant/polish called PermaPlate? My son
just bought his first car (by himself) which is an Audi A-4. The dealer is
promoting this product as a paint protector and that one would result in
never needing to polish/wax the car again. Sounds to good to be true. >>

Any application that a dealer tries to sell a new car buyer is suspect, as it
is probably just another way for him to increase his profit margin. Example?
Selling you a treatment to protect your new fabric interior. He charges you
a hundred dollars for five minutes of work with a five dollar aerosol can of
Scotchguard.

As far as paint protection is concerned, the Audi already comes with clearcoat
over its paint. Nothing else is required to protect the finish except
frequent washing, an occasional application of a quality wax and polish, not
letting the car sit in the sun all day, and common sense.

If something sounds too good to be true, it probably is. IMHO, Timothy, this
"extra" is just a waste of money, which would be better spent on a good car
cover.

Just my two pennies...
