Probably depends on your local dealer. Over the last 20 years or so
I had a much less positive experience with our local long-time Alfa
dealer. Over this time he did the following:

1) At least occasionally the dealer would put BMW oil filters
on Alfas because they fit better or were more available (the filters
were smaller and he was also a BMW dealer).

2) He withdrew support for our local AROC newsletter (a measly
$40 a year) because we also ran ads for a local "unauthorized"
(his words) service provider. He did this in spite of the fact I bought
two new cars from him!

On the positive side the dealer does have a very knowledgeable
service guy that is fairly open in providing advice.

One more story about the dealer. I once went to their parts dept
for some valve shims. The parts guy told me they might have
them, but he didn't know and that all their shims were in a box
and if I wanted them I'd have to "mic' them out."

Consequently, my local former dealer is normally my last choice
for parts and service.

Happy New Year to all,
