This is my first attempt at communicating on the digest so kindly do not
flame me if I breach any ettiquite. I have found that tightening the fan
belt and using a spanner on the generator was the simplest way of turning
the engine over while being able to see timing marks. Slackening the fan
belt when you finish the job is probably essential to avoid damaging the
generator (or alternator) bearings.
