Re: 145/146 clutch bearing noise

I went to the dealer to find out about this - at first a friend's 146 1.6
boxer was making the noise (is it a clattering noise?) after a clutch
change. Now my 1.5IE 33 is making the same noise, after a transmission
fluid change. The chief mechanic at the dealers claim "they all do that"
and mentioned that almost all the boxer engined Alfas make this noise, even
when new.

I suspect that the noise will go away when I change the gearbox oil to a
synthetic - the only reason I haven't done so yet is the scarcity of
Redline/Amsoil here in Malaysia.
