milano insurance help needed

I would like to appeal to the group for some assistance on U.S. auto
insurance adjusters.  I was involved in an accident yesterday in my
(formerly pristine) Verde, nothing really major and definitely fixable
but even relatively minor damage seems to run well into the multiple
thousands these days.
Anyway, I am about to report this to my insurance carrier (California
Casualty), and wish I had all the old posts that addressed getting
lowrolled by adjusters since Blue Book values aren't worth a cr*p.
Please, someone, what is the name of the 'other' market guide which
lists these cars and where do I find it; also can anyone address whether
they (the adjuster enemy) try to take 'trade-in value' or 'used car
value' as the baseline value of the vehicle.
Any other tips, comments, whatever will be gratefully accepted and
highly appreciated.
Please if posting your answer cc me directly since I only get the digest
in it's compiled form which can take up to a day, and I'm desperate for
some information.
Sorry about the long whining post but it kind of hurts right now....
