33 gearbox question

There is a well known fault with late series 3 33's where the
gearchange shaft pulls out from the 'rubber' block it passes
through on the back or the gearbox. It is only held in place =

with a circlip, and once the groove that the circlip lives in
wears it will pop out if you try to change gear with too much
force. Normal fix is to drill the shalf and use a split pin =

instead of a circlip.
