Re: 164 vibration

bob, you said (among other things):
The strange thing is that it's not always present. If the car is parked
overnight in a
cool garage it is almost sure to vibrate on the way to work in the morning.
Drive it home
after a day parked in a hot parking lot and it probably won't. When attempting
to have the wheels stroboscopically balanced on the car the mechanic said the
wheels were moving all over the place. When removed from the car and placed
on the balancer they were fine. I wish someone would figure this one out!
==============================================
two things yump out here:
1st, the fact that "the wheels were moving all over the place" when attempting
to balance them on the car.
2nd, the fact that it's less likely to occur when warm.

something is loose, you yust have not found it yet - whatever it is, it's not
*verry* loose, as temperature increase seems to be enuff to tighten it up. i'd
suggets jacking the car up, and moving the wheels around to look for play
somewhere - mebbe the driveshafts/cv joints?

hope this helps a little,
