RE: SPICA to carb conversions

One thing that many of you 'Injected Americans' forget when replacing you
tired old spica with the bits that the factory wanted you to have, ie, a
pair of DCOE Webers, is that these carbies are unhappy unless the fuel
pressure is about 4psi. So, a fuel pressure regulator is a fairly essential
item. The factory weberised cars used a glass-bowl type fuel filter with a
built in pressure regulator. This is plumbed into the fuel lines between
the fuel pump and the carbies.

My instinct (and lack of any knowledge on the subject!) tells me that a fuel
injection pump would be waaaay to high a presssure for the carbies. either
get a stock mechanical pump, or buy a small electric pump.

as for 40mm vs 45mm carbs, unless your motor is fairly heavily modified, the
45's will be too big.
