Re: Copper Fuel Lines

Hi all,

There may be a good non-corroding alternative to copper for fuel lines,
but I've not seen it in North America. They use the term Cunifer in Europe
for some sort of alloy with Copper, Nickel, and Iron. The result is a metal
that looks sort of like yellow cad plated steel. From what I understand,
the stuff will not corrode, and has better burst and fatigue ratings than
copper. Having said that, I don't know how it compares with steel.

It must be pretty good, however, as the German TUeV accepts it whole-heartedly
for brake line useage. (And we all know it has got to be well-nigh perfect
for that to happen...) ;-)

In finishing up my GTV, I've used mild steel brake line (due to a possible
return to Quebec, where non-steel brake line is illegal, from what I understand)
and a Cunifer fuel line (not yet installed).

Does anyone have negative experiences with Cunifer?

For what it's worth, Demon Tweeks in the UK sells the stuff by the metre,
mail order, and it's widely available in Europe. (Demon Tweeks also sells
stainless steel brake line for a whopping 33 UKP/metre, unless it's a misprint.
I do mean hard line.)

Cheers,
Neil
