I have heard a rumor that it might be possible to drop the transmission slightly and undo the
smaller shifter boot and shifter from under the car, thereby eliminating the need to remove the
center console. Not done it myself but it might be worth a try if getting the console out and back
in is half as much of a hassle as I've heard.
