[alfa] RE: [Alfa] how long to install a new soft top

good grief--that long! Glue setting up won't be a problem here in
Seattle-even though its damp, it's not humid like it is down South.
Paint/glue, etc. actually will still dry when it's raining here. But you
make good points re replacing hardware--my frame, on a '92, seems to be in
good shape, but who knows. Thanks Bernie & Jeff-as always, I appreciate your
generosity and help!

Well, I'm not exactly a pro when it comes to trim and upholstery work.
However, in the past 20 some years of working on these cars I have probably
installed half a dozen or so tops on kamm tail spiders.

I'd say someone who is very familiar with these cars and the installation of
tops on them should be able to do it properly in 10 to 12 hours if there are
no problems and the top fits properly.

I'd say that happens about a third of the time. Out of the last three I've
done in as many years, one went fine, the other two gave me trouble.

Maybe a "real" pro could do it in less time, an amateur who has never done
it before could probably do it in a weekend or so taking their time, or on
the other hand I could be completely wrong about all this ...

YMMV,

Jeff

That's pretty much my question--how long should it take a pro installer to
install a new cloth top?
