Another Not Starting Problem

I have, in a moment's inattentiveness, just connected the 'brown wire' on my
Lumenition to the wrong terminal on the coil, and I suspect, by connecting
it to the +ve supply, just fried my electronic ignition. An engine that did
run, now doesn't, and has no spark. I know... I know... stupid, stupid,
stupid !

Before I buy a replacement, can I canvas some views. I know that some people
are against Lumenition (as a brand or elec.ignition in general, I know not),
but I would appreciate some views as to why, and what my options now are. As
far as I see it, they are...

a) New Lumenition - fits straight on.
b) Points - I've rebuilt *every* nut and bolt on this car. I can reset
points.
c) Different/alternate ignition control system - why ?

I'm tending to opt for 'a', as the car had it fitted when I bought it (and I
don't, therefore, have the screws and wires etc. to fit the points - but
could no doubt get some) and it's a straight swap of the control unit. How
bad is just points ? Some say that I'm well rid. Finding out what bits were
binned when the Lumenition was fitted is yet more hassle, and I'm not so
purist that I have to make a point. If electronic ignition works better (or
at least with less likelyhood of problems), why not ? Or does it ? I never
drove my car far enough to have any problems with the ignition set up, but
perhaps I was just lucky.

Views please.

At the moment, it's late and, having spent the last 18 years rebuilding this
car, I feel like I'm standing in the garage and ripping up 20 pound notes.
