Re: List views?

Hi
Yes difficult.
Very strange to inform you cam clearances need adjusting if engine was rebuilt
and hasn't been used much. It is quite a tough job and not for the amateur.
Oil from back of engine may be coming from the valve covers. See if you can
see it running down the back of the engine.
Autobox leaks are a real pain. If it hasn't been used much then it drip drip
drips away and the fluid level is low. It might just be where the dipstick
tube goes in but who knows, could anything.
If you have to have the engine out and repair the rear oil seal, switch the
auto box and fit a new steering rack, I think from my limited experience that
would cost you in the region of 1500 pounds in a garage.
Keep your fingers crossed that someone will give you a lower figure.
By the way the car could be very well worth it. See how it fares against the
following. Give a point for each item except 5 points for each item of fame,
ie show car, celeb owned, road tester etc. Also 2 points each for item O) and
F)
Minus a point(s) for each fail (excluding the fame items that are worth 5
each).
Total it up
5 - 10 points condition C 4000pounds
10-15 Condition B 6000 pounds
15 - 20 Condition A 9000 pounds
20+ Outstanding. Over 9000 Never mind the repairs
Less than 5........ don't buy

A) Trim is in great condition
B) Body is great
C) Drive side is right for market and original
D) Hood is good
E) Hardtop good
F) Car has low mileage (under 50K) guaranteed.
G) Colour is original and good, Damson, Brooklands Green, Red, Carmine, Blue,
Black, White. Yellow
H) Some fame attaches to the car -- i.e. once owned by "....." etc
I) Original Stag engine (It is from what you give)
J) Few owners - three or two
K) Engine bay tidy
L) Valid MOT test + past MOT's
M) Tyres OK
N) Original licence or number plate
O) Service history
P) No obvious body repairs
Q) Original Spec
R) Factory build sheet (Unlikely on a Stag)
S) Original Handbook
T) Original tool kit
U) Serviceable mechanicals

Well there's something to think about.
