stag-digest V4 #43 (and others)

In reply to a number of points:
(for a 1975 Mark 2 UK spec)

Differentials: my Stag appears to have a 3.45 ratio diff - calculated by
counting revolutions of prop shaft & wheels. Perhaps slightly slower off
the mark but more relaxed cruising & average 25mpg (Manual O/D) over
last 20,000 miles since June 97 (usually at around 75mph).

Rev counter - mine (standard) is wired according to the ROM but has
Lumenition fitted. Seems to work OK (and corresponds to speedo reading)
apart from a slight reluctance to start until revs taken over 1,500.

Glenn - your observations on the list are always worth reading and I
value them greatly. Please take no account of those whose first reaction
is to reach for their lawyers. Everybody should be aware that any
material on the Net and Web comes with no guarantee and should accept
that any action they take is entirely at their own risk.

Indicator (turn signal): the little plastic tags that the "cam" on the
steering column trip are quite fragile & easy to break off. And check
that the cam is there - it's a spring steel affair just pushed onto the
column and can easily be snapped if mishandled. And finally check that
the pips on the cam locate with the depressions in the column (and that
these depressions point roughly horizontally in straight ahead position)
