Turn signal help

My turn signal fails to return to the off position automatically .. I usually
forget to turn it off manually causing grief among other drivers .This results
in my recieving different types of hand and finger gestures from these other
drivers .Has anyone ever dismantled this signal? Is this repairable or must I
purchase a new one?
