If you have Stromberg carbies, then the theory of pumping the pedal on a
difficult start has no effect.

This theory works only with car that have carbies which contain an
accelerator pump, that is, a pump that gives an extra squirt when the
accelerator is pushed hard during over taking. Mainly these type feature
on the earlier Fords GM cars. And this is why these cars can get flooded
on a hard start, people just keep on pumping.

The stromberg carbies do not have such a pump. you can pump until the cows
come home and never flood.

As for the vapor locks, these arm common in cars using a mechanical pump,
but a car that uses an electric pump should never suffer this problem, that
is as long as the pump is working properly.
